@themarkup Pretty good guide!

There are three things I would point out though:

- Cell towers can easily track the device itself via IMEI, IMSI, etc.
- Projects like GrapheneOS significantly enhance the privacy and security of the device.
- Tor is also really useful for many applications.

@themarkup This should never be used at home even with a VPN as cell towers will still tie it to you by your location.

Many people tout not using biometrics as more secure but I disagree. They are excellent at preventing shoulder surfing or capture of your device password by security cameras. You can do much better than 6 digits by using an alpha numeric password or even a long pass phrase, and biometrics can be quickly disabled by holding both the side button and one volume button.

@themarkup Apple Advanced Data Protection will encrypt the phone’s backup and most iCloud data.

Apple Lockdown Mode will help against targeted attacks. The app iVerify can also detect infection and has checklists of steps to take to secure yourself.

Signal messaging should also be mentioned.

Forgetting a Wi-Fi network doesn’t really accomplish anything except that the phone won’t auto join it when you are near it again.
